Blizzard is raking it in again in World of Warcraft.
Yesterday, they offered the Celestial Steed for sale at $25. This "pet" allows players to fly in the game at whatever flight speed they have the skill for.
Well, they sold about 80,000 of the little jewels yesterday. Yep, that's $2,000,000. At the time of the story, they were averaging $500,000 per hour in sales.
And who says micropayments in games won't work?

oh man, why'd you have to do that? Now I have to nit pick and come off like a condescending idiot. This all your fault you realize.
It's a "mount", not a "pet".
I wonder if they reached that $25 price point by trying to make it just enough out of reach of the majority of players so that Azeroth is covered neck deep in Celestial Steeds. If so I think they failed.
isn't. isn't covered.. sheesh.
Ok, the reason I said "pet" was because the article did and I was being sarcastic. Humor is difficult to convey sometimes, and sarcasm is even harder unless you're blatantly obvious about it.
What's the "isn't" about?
Yea, I did miss the sarcasm. Perhaps I should have read the original article also.
As the the "isn't" I wasn't really clear. I wanted to substitute "isn't" for "is" in this statement "so that Azeroth is covered neck deep in Celestial Steeds"
Ah, I gotcha!
